The Art

As a result of escalating hostility in the Palamas Settlement in Hawaii, five martial artists came together to form the world's most complete fighting system. Those five men and their arts are: Adriano Emperado and Kenpo, Joe Holck and Ju Jitsu, Frank Ordenez and Judo, Peter Choo and Karate, Clarence Chang and Kung Fu. They spent two years in brutal training trying to perfect their craft and in 1949 they presented Kajukenbo to the world.

Early Kajukenbo was legendary for its brutal training. Sessions would often last hours and end with many droplets of blood on the floor. Bruises and broken bones were also common place. For obvious legal reasons, today's training is nowhere near the same severity, but the emphasis will never change: real world training for real world situations.

Today's Kajukenbo practitioner is in supreme shape and is not afraid to get her/his hands dirty. Training sessions are supportive yet demanding and due to the wide knowledge base of the combined five arts, Kajukenbo is effective and safe for women, men, children, the extemely fit, the deconditioned, and people of all ages.
